Things that go bump in the night!
The weather has been so lovely here. Tim and I visited Bayeux last week to see the David Hockney exhibition at the Bayeux Tapestry. Walking through Bayeux (which is such a lovely place, I strongly recommend it), it was 14 degrees and it was so lovely to feel the sun and to be outside!.
Tim commented on the condition of parts of the tapestry that had been patched, I don't know what he expects from something that's over 1000 years old- perhaps I should be worried as I am 59 in October.
The exhibition which is called A Year In Normandy was lovely and if an 85 year old can teach himself how to paint on an Ipad, then why can't I get my Airpods to pair with my phone!

Last week Tim jumped out of bed in the middle of the night and ran to the window, I woke up and asked him what he was doing and he said that the light over the garage had suddenly come on. He had a quick look out of the window and as he did not see someone wearing a black and white stripped jumper with a bag labelled 'swag' swung over his shoulder, he went straight back to bed and to sleep. I however was awake for a long time wondering what it could have been and listening out for the sound of our car disappearing down the drive.
It is a well know fact that men do not appear to worry about things as women do. I have asked a few of my friends (not an extensive survey, I admit) who have all agreed that if they have a worry it can keep them awake whereas their other halves just sleep normally. My parents were a classic example of this. My Mother had many sleepless nights of worry (her fault for having 4 daughters) whilst my Father slept through everything.
Some say that worry is a waste of emotion but I disagree, as quite often in the witching hour when everything always seems that much worse, you can often come up with a solution to what is worrying you. "You worry too much” is a phrase women often hear from men but studies has shown that women do not worry more than men, they just worry differently.
"Women have a greater tendency to brood, with a lot of [emotions] engaged in it,” says Dr. Joan Lang, chairwoman of the department of psychiatry at St. Louis University School of Medicine. “Men have a tendency to be a little more obsessive, concentrating on ‘What should I do?’ rather than, ‘What am I feeling?”.
Men it seems engage in more active, problem -focused coping (another way of saying going to sleep). I guess jumping up and looking out of the window would be a example of that. Would I have got up and looked out of the window or would I have just laid there listening for any noise?? No, I would have woken Tim up and asked him to go and check.
Men don't seem to hear anything at night either do they? that's because they sleep deeper (women are affected by their hormones apparently). The Dagenham Girl Pipers could march through our bedroom and Tim would not wake up but I know he'd be jolly disappointed to have missed them!
Anyway, we are enjoying the turn in the weather here and have completed a few jobs outside. It is so lovely to see signs of Spring, I've even seen some lambs. Will it last that is the question?.
P.S. Any Victoria Wood fans out there either in the UK or planning to visit soon?
'Looking for me Friend' is a great night out, It's a collection of her characters, songs and sketches It's written and performed by Paulus who is a huge Victoria fan. I saw it last week in Cheltenham and loved it. It's running until May (at the moment).
