Has anyone seen my Lilo!
If found please return to.....
Autumn has landed here in
Normandy. The mornings are darker and we have succumbed and lit the fire. The
leaves are coming down in droves so I have added David Hockey's interpretation
of Autumn in Normandy to my home page- hope you like it.
At the end of last month I
went to Turkey, weather was very hot but it was cooling nicely by the end of the
holiday.
On our flight to Turkey
they made an announcement that the cabin crew were ALL taking a 30 minute break
and they asked us not use the call button during that time unless it was an
emergency- well as far as I am concerned, me running out of red wine and nibbles
is an emergency!.
Anyway, it did not go down
well with the passengers (rowdy lot from Bristol) . The crew then proceeded to
block the toilet door whilst they took their break. You can imagine how
well that all went down with the boisterous lot from the West country (and that was
just my friend!)
I have come to the
conclusion that they have taken the fun out of flying- it used to be exciting,
now it’s just boring and you spend the whole time before the flight lingering,
packing and unpacking your stuff, putting your boarding pass and passport away
and taking them out again. They don't give you enough time to eat and shop-
imagine how much people would spend if they had longer to wait, you could buy a
whole new wardrobe and have a four course meal so you would not have to worry
about what the cabin crew threw at you on board.
We had a great time in
Turkey, watched the most amazing sunsets, read a lot, swam in the sea and had
some lovely massages- what was not to like. Interesting event when I left
two lilos on a bus (do not ask!!) My friend Helen was very confused as she
thought that they were fully inflated! - as if I would leave two inflated
lilos on a bus! cheek! these were still in their packets. Anyway, it was not
until later that evening that she realised that they had not been inflated, she
had spent the whole day thinking I had totally lost my mind (and two lilos at
the same time).
Helen (ever the practical
one) suggested that I go back to the bus stop as the driver comes back the same
way after about ten minutes "what did the driver look like ?" she
asked I said "dark hair and a beard" that narrowed it down -
virtually every Turkish man has dark hair and a beard! Needless to say I did
not see the driver again, we were hoping he would just lob them over the wall
of the hotel as he was driving past and they would land straight in the pool
but no such luck, I felt bereft for the rest of the holiday!!
Anway back home and the
fire was on- always a bit of a shock to the system but I was glad to be back.
Really knew I was back in Normandy when I opened my bedroom curtains the next
morning and 20 odd sheep ( they weren’t odd, I just mean that I did not know the
exact amount) were peacefully nibbling at the grass in the back garden- no idea
where they came from but as I opened the window they left through a gap in the
hedge. I called after them "please come back anytime and finish off the
rest of it"
All excitement here! we
have a new system for the rubbish collection: Basically means more work for us
and I've already used the wrong bags on the wrong day - I think they are just
trying to confuse us-It will keep us occupied in the cold dark months that lie
ahead.
Found out that we can get a
train from here to Strasbourg- so very tempted to take a trip to see the
Christmas markets in early December. The joys of living in Europe- everything
is on your doorstep (except lilos that is!).
Keep warm and don't forget
grey bags are non -recyclable and yellow are recyclable- or is it the other way
around??.
