Blink and you'll miss it.
Did someone steal May and most of June? Where did they go?
Why is my life flashing by so quickly, is that a sign of old age I wonder?
I read this recently:
"That can be a sign of getting older—but not in a gloomy way. It’s more a sign that you're actively living, constantly filling your days with people, places, plans, and purpose. When every week brings a new highlight, the months don’t hang around."
-so it's not because I waste many an hour sitting in the garden with a glass of Rose then?
We are enjoying some very hot weather here, so hot we have been able to put the hot tub up. I mentioned to Tim that it would be nice to go in the hot tub when it's dark but the trouble is it does not get dark here until about 11 and that is way past my bed time.
On the itinerary for us this summer is the Tour De France which is coming through Laval in a a few weeks, a visit to Chateau de Lalande (which is featured in Chateau DIY), a trip to Paris (always a good idea), a trip to Buckingham Palace and a week by the coast -lovely!
More exciting than any of that, is that in September a new boiler is being put in - oh the excitement, oh the cost! think I might need to sell a kidney (not that anyone would want it). New boilers: not glamorous but undeniably adult. You know you're really grown-up when you're more excited about a new boiler than a new handbag.
A gentleman arrived unexpectedly the other day with a lorry. It turned out he was from Antargaz, it was full of gas and he was here to check that the lorry could get into our property to deliver the gas when we need it (always a good idea). The French really do have a way of making even the mundane things feel ceremonious, normally with a handshake and a “bonne journée.” and they always take you up on your offer of a cup of coffee.
Today we have spent most of the day clearing up after last night' s barbeque for Timmy's birthday. It was the most beautiful summer's evening and all of our guests looked stunning in their summer outfits. Who knows what the rest of the Summer is going to be like, so we need to make hay while the sun shines as they say.
Tim and I had put up lighting to go across the drive however, in the process, Tim managed to drop the lights (he was up a ladder in the tree) and they smashed me in the face. So for the last few days I have had a bit of a black eye, a gash and a swollen lip but it was worth it as they looked lovely when we put them on. We just had to wait until midnight to see their full effect.
Now I'm off to sit for five minutes or fifty and I am going to listen to the sound of the birds singing and the bees buzzing. Everything else will still be here later, but these golden afternoons? They’re the stuff time should speed up for.
Cheers!
